Outreach Worker – Young People (Challenging Behaviour & Mental Health)

Right Step Recruitment is seeking passionate and resilient Outreach Workers to support young people experiencing challenging behaviour and mental health difficulties. This rewarding role involves working directly with adolescents in the community, providing guidance, emotional support, and practical assistance to help them build confidence, stability, and brighter futures.

2 Job Description:

Location: Croydon, London

Salary: £13ph+

Hours: Mainly Weekends (Some Weekdays). 2 – 6 hrs a day.

You will play a key role in helping adolescents and their families manage behavioural challenges, improve emotional wellbeing, and develop positive coping strategies.

3 Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and group support to young people with behavioural or emotional challenges.
  • Develop trusting relationships to encourage positive engagement and personal growth.
  • Support service users in accessing education, training, and community resources.
  • Assist in creating and implementing individual support or behaviour management plans.
  • Promote emotional wellbeing, resilience, and healthy coping strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with families, social workers, and mental health professionals.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure safeguarding and confidentiality standards are upheld.

4 Required Skills:

  • Previous experience working with young people with behavioural or mental health needs (essential).
  • A caring, patient, and non-judgemental approach.
  • Strong communication, de-escalation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage challenging situations effectively.
  • Enhanced DBS check (required).
  • Relevant qualifications in Youth Work, Health & Social Care, Psychology, or similar field (desirable).
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (preferred).
