2 Job Description:
Location: Birmingham (B66)
Salary: £13ph+
Hours: Monday – Friday (37.5 hrs per week)
As a Residential Children’s Support Worker in Birmingham, you will provide care, guidance, and emotional support to children and young people living in residential settings. You’ll help create a safe and nurturing environment, supporting each individual’s emotional, social, and educational development while promoting independence and positive outcomes.
3 Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality care and emotional support to children and young people within a residential setting.
- Build trusting, positive relationships that promote safety, stability, and personal growth.
- Support with daily routines including education, leisure, and life skills development.
- Assist with care plans, behavioural management strategies, and goal setting.
- Encourage independence, confidence, and self-esteem through person-centred support.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to care reviews and reports.
- Ensure all safeguarding, health, and safety standards are consistently upheld.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, local authorities, and other professionals to achieve the best outcomes for young people.
4 Required Skills:
- Previous experience working with children or young people in a residential, educational, or care setting (essential).
- Understanding of trauma-informed and person-centred care approaches.
- Ability to remain calm and professional when managing challenging behaviour.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- Enhanced DBS check (required).
- NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People or equivalent qualification (preferred but not essential).
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins.
